Homeward Bound

We had a soggy start to our five days in Tumut. The river was up a bit and although there were some big fish being caught they eluded me!

Leaving Tumut we started the long climb up from Talbingo on the Snowy Mountains Highway. We stopped beside the Yarrangobilly River for lunch – a beautiful spot. We wished we had booked a campsite here as it was quiet and it would have been another opportunity to fish.

Anyway, it was on to Adaminaby for a quick overnighter. The lake was at 38% and still rising so I had an evening down at Yen’s Bay and managed to land one small rainbow.

The next day we headed off to Bungendore for a couple of nights at the Showgrounds – didn’t think I’d ever be staying there! It did give Jude and I the opportunity to catch up with friends though.

And then it was home!

We had a great trip but were disappointed we couldn’t get in to Victoria. Ah well, next time!

Plans have already started for our next trip away – an Isuzu I-Venture day sand driving on the famous Stockton Beach near Newcastle. Normally we are opposed to 4WDs on beaches but we’re convincing ourselves that this is training in preparation of maybe a Simpson Desert crossing???
