Melbourne

So, off to Melbourne for a quick three week trip.

Our first stop was at a farm stay in Coolac. Very nice place with two lovely border collies who accompanied Judie and myself on our morning walk.

Beechworth was next with a visit to the gaol and also Yackandandah. Great pies at Yackandandah but we had to sit inside because of European wasps. In Beechworth, we stayed at Lake Sambal which was a close walk to town and lovely views over the lake.

As the long weekend in Victoria was coming up we thought we’d sit it out at a bush camp near Benalla. It ended up being quite crowded but still plenty of space. We went to nearby Goorambat to check out the silo art and the mural in the local Uniting church. The church had been closed due to Covid but Jude arranged a special opening for us.

We made Lilydale as our base for Melbourne and spent a night at Simon and Zoe’s and another at Nathaniel’s. Visited the NGV and Willamstown. Lots of yummy meals as well! We had a few days to ourselves while the boys were at work so had lunch with Roy and Maree one day in Brighton and then for a visit to Sherbrooke forest. Beautiful place with heaps of birds. Lots of the trees looked to be at least 70 metres tall!

Our week in Melbourne went very quickly and then it was off to the Howqua River for a camp and some trout fishing.
